A Provident Living Testimony

MESSAGE FROM STEVEN SEOW, 2nd COUNSELOR,
       THE SINGAPORE STAKE PRESIDENCY

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On behalf of all the members of the Singapore Stake Presidency, I bring you our love and wish all members well in this rather difficult time. As this COVID-19 situation continues, I am, however, thankful for being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are led by a living prophet who has constant communication with the Lord that allows him to warn the members of the Church of things that lay ahead. Principles have been taught that if followed, would have prepared us for the situations we face today. Food storage, financial preparedness and home-centered gospel learning are just three of the principles that come to mind.

Food Storage
When there was the initial run on food and supplies last month, members who have had some form of food storage would not have panicked. My family is not the best example, but we made it a habit to have around 2 weeks of food stored at home. Because of this, when the run on supermarkets happened, we were frustrated that we could not get some food, but we were not worried since we can always rely on what we already have at home.

Financial Preparedness
With the slowing of the economy, there could be loss of employment in the future. If we have had financial preparedness, then this is also something that we need not fear too much.

Home-centered Gospel Learning
Finally, with the temporary suspension of all face-to-face meetings, this is the time that we need to learn how to apply the home-centered gospel learning principles that we have been taught. The changes that have happened over the past 2-3 years should have prepared us for such a situation today. Just because we cannot go to church on Sundays, does not mean that we stop being disciples of Christ.

We all know that these are the last days and the road ahead is not going to be smooth sailing. However, I know that the Lord, being omnipotent, knows all and is constantly watching over us. Keep our trust and faith in Him, follow the teachings of the prophet. He will keep us safe. I am truly grateful to be a member of this church that bears His name.

Sincerely,
Steven Seow
