Survival Kit

Do you need a survival/first aid kit for your car, 72 hr. kit, or other emergency kit? Here is a great deal on one from the same company we got our small first aid kits from.  They just launched this new line of survival kits, which are more than just a first aid kit, and for a limited time are running a launch special.  These kits are great because each compartment is labeled and color coded to help you quickly find what you need in any situation. These will normally run $74.95+tax, but right now you can enter the code   SURVIVAL30   when you are checking out and get it for $56.26 (that price includes tax). To apply the code, enter it in the box under Payment Method where it asks for voucher/ promo codes. To read more about it and to get the deal go here . The best part is the company says     " If you don't like it, send it back for a full refund".

“Our success is never measured by how strongly we are tempted but by how faithfully we respond. We must ask for help from our Heavenly Father and seek strength through the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ. In both temporal and spiritual things, obtaining this divine assistance enables us to become provident providers for ourselves and others” -Elder Robert D. Hales

Welcome to 2020! Sorry we've been away for a while but we were figuring out the best way to keep you all going with Provident Living while still following the First Presidency's lead.  There have also been some big changes including our Stake Blog.  Hopefully you like it and will be able to find the things you are looking for.  We've also included a link to the  January  newsletter and the January sales at the Home Storage Center. If you are planning on doing a garden this year check out the gardening section and the Month by Month link from USU and learn what you could be doing to prep for your garden now.

Learning to Layer

Wearing the appropriate layers in the right fabrics can make the difference between comfort and discomfort, and in extreme cases, life and death. The following information can help you learn how to be better prepared to spend time in the cold. CLOTHING LAYERS What you’re wearing can make all the difference when it comes to staying warm. The greatest amount of heat can be lost from the head, so cover up with a hat, wrap a scarf around your neck or head, and wear lots of layers. When layering, it’s best to start with just a few layers and add more when you need them. It’s a good idea to have a base layer to wick moisture away, a mid layer to trap heat in and a waterproof outer layer for protection against the elements. In addition to tips like choosing wool over synthetic fabrics, it would be a good idea to wear an outer layer with zippers and vents to let in air, in case you get too hot and perspiration gets trapped inside your jacket. Gloves and a thick pair of calf or knee-len...

AQUAMIRA WATER BOTTLES

Did you know that the Church sells Aquamira bottles? These are a great water filtration product because they're equipped with a water filter right inside the bottle. But, there's one little thing you might not know about this and most other water bottles-- they need to be primed before you drink from it. Remember  "The Pump" ? That movie we all watched in primary or seminary where the guy doesn't prime the pump... It's kind of like that! So, how do you prime the Aquamira? Simply fill the bottle with water and squeeze it all out. Fill it up once more, and squeeze it out again. Once you've filled up the bottle twice and squeezed all of the water out, the filter is ready to go! It's a good idea to prime your bottle now, before an emergency, so you don't have to waste precious time or water. The Aquamira is also better than most other water filter bottles because it  is CERTIFIED to remove virus, bacteria, and parasites to US EPA standards. It also r...

"PEACE & PREPAREDNESS ARE PRICELESS"

LDS Church News, September 13, 2018 :            "Hurricane Florence was still months away, 'but I felt a need to spend a fairly significant amount of time [during the zone conferences] on emergency preparedness."           "Under President Holland’s direction, the missionaries were soon building 72-hour kits, stocking up on drinking water and developing communication and evacuation plans."             "'When [Hurricane Florence] did come, I felt that our missionaries were feeling quite peaceful and well-prepared,' he told the Church News on Thursday."             "For anyone residing in hurricane-threatened communities, 'peace' and 'preparedness' are priceless qualities."  Don't give up your sense of peace because of a lack of preparedness. Do something today to prepare for the unexpected.

JESUS IS THE LIVING CHRIST

"Because the Savior offered Himself as the infinite Atonement, you and I have the opportunity, the privilege , to be forgiven when we repent. We can also turn to Him for healing of our hearts, for strength where we are weak, and for help to do things we simply cannot do on our own,"  Russell M. Nelson ,  Special Witnesses of Christ .
